President Mahama commissions Benjamin Quashie, 11 other new Ambassadors and High Commissioners

President John Dramani Mahama has commissioned 12 newly appointed envoys, including Mr. Benjamin Kofi Quashie, to serve as Ghana’s Ambassadors and High Commissioners across various countries.

The colourful but dignified swearing-in ceremony was held in Accra after host nations granted agrément throughout September 2025.

High Commissioner Benjamin Quashie, posted to South Africa, expressed gratitude to President Mahama for the appointment and pledged to uphold Ghana’s image, strengthen bilateral ties, and advance economic diplomacy. Citing recent achievements, he pointed to the amicable resolution of the MultiChoice–Communications Ministry dispute as proof that dialogue must always take precedence over confrontation.

Mr. Quashie also stressed the importance of attracting foreign investment, noting that envoys have been given clear key performance indicators to guide their work. “We will do our best to bring in foreign investment to ensure economic growth, creating jobs and opportunities for all,” he said. He further pledged to leverage South Africa’s role as Ghana’s second-largest trading partner to encourage more South African companies to return, highlighting improving economic conditions.

• Mr. Benjamin Anani Quashie – High Commissioner to South Africa

• Prof. Mrs. Esi Awuah – Ambassador to Switzerland

• Mr. Kojo Choi – Ambassador to South Korea

• Captain (Rtd.) George Kofi Nfojoh – High Commissioner to Togo

• Prof. Dora Francisca Edu-Buandoh – High Commissioner to Canada

• Alhaji Abdul-Rahman Harruna Attah – High Commissioner to Namibia

• Dr. Kwame Ampofo – Ambassador to Hungary

• Mr. Magnus Kofi Amoatey – Ambassador to Congo

• Mr. Benedict Batabe Assorow – Ambassador to the Holy See (Vatican)

• Mr. Mohammed Abubakari Manaf – Ambassador to Benin

All the envoys, who are non-career diplomats, received their presidential instruments of commission, formally empowering them to take up their assignments.

President Mahama’s latest diplomatic appointments underline his administration’s renewed commitment to strengthening bilateral relations, deepening international cooperation, and advancing Ghana’s foreign policy priorities.

The envoys are expected to champion Ghana’s political, economic, and cultural interests abroad while forging partnerships to support the country’s development agenda.
