The Director-General of the National Information Technology Agency (NITA), Dr. Mark-Oliver Kevor, has asserted that Ghana is positioning itself to become a global force in Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
According to him, this vision will be realised through NITA’s work in standardising ICT infrastructure, strengthening regulations, and building capacity across the digital sector.
Dr. Kevor made the remarks while delivering the welcome address at the opening ceremony of the four-day National ICT Week, which began on Monday, August 25, at the Accra International Conference Centre.
He explained that NITA’s mandate as the regulator and promoter of ICT in the public sector is central to the country’s digital transformation.
“It is against this background that I have a strong conviction that through NITA, Ghana will have a commanding voice in the ICT industry across the globe in no time,” he said.
The NITA boss highlighted key initiatives being implemented, including the rollout of the National Data Exchange Platform, the operationalisation of Ghana’s Digital Trust Framework, the accreditation and certification of ICT professionals, and partnerships with academia and industry to expand digital skills training.
This year’s National ICT Week is on the theme “Ghana as Africa’s Digital Trade Hub—Innovation, Policy, and Partnerships for the Future.”
The programme will focus on digital trust frameworks, e-commerce, fintech solutions, and data-driven innovation.
