39 suspects arrested in cybercrime raid at Tema

A dawn raid at Adom City Estate in Tema Community 25 has led to the arrest of 39 suspected cybercriminals in a major joint operation by the Cyber Security Authority (CSA) and the Criminal Investigations Department (CID).

The swoop, carried out in the early hours of Thursday, August 21, 2025, followed weeks of intelligence-led surveillance on what investigators described as a cyber fraud hub discreetly operating within the residential enclave.

Security officials said the crackdown forms part of a nationwide offensive against organised online fraud networks that have been targeting individuals and institutions both locally and internationally.

During the raid, officers seized dozens of laptops, mobile phones, internet routers, and other sophisticated digital devices believed to have been used in perpetrating fraudulent activities. The confiscated equipment is now undergoing forensic analysis to build evidence against the suspects.

Among those arrested were three individuals believed to be under the age of 18. Authorities say they are working with social welfare services to determine the next course of action for the minors.

The CSA confirmed that all 39 suspects are currently in police custody and will be processed for court in the coming days. The operation, which saw a heavy security presence, was specifically designed to dismantle criminal rings exploiting technology to conduct financial scams and other cyber-enabled crimes.
