Professor Ransford Gyampo, Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Shippers Authority, has refuted claims by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) suggesting he attempted to interfere in the ongoing investigation of former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta.
In a strongly worded statement addressed directly to Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng, Prof. Gyampo clarified that he never contacted the OSP’s office to influence the investigation, as was allegedly implied by the prosecutor during a recent public statement.
“Dear Kissi Agyebeng, I didn’t call your office, I called YOU and we never spoke on phone because you said you couldn’t speak and that you were going to call back,” Prof. Gyampo wrote.
According to him, his message was a personal text sent directly to Mr. Agyebeng, urging him to remain mindful of potential financial consequences to the state as he carried out his mandate. “I texted you just to caution you not to cause financial loss to the state even as you go about your investigations, which I fully favor,” he explained.
Prof. Gyampo said he found it troubling that his communication had been interpreted as an attempt to exert pressure, emphasizing that his only concern was to ensure investigations were conducted with the national interest at heart.
“Given what I have heard from across the political divide about your possible intentions, I only expressed the hope that your intentions are patriotic and not personal. That’s all,” he stated. “It is fine to assure Ghanaians about your intentions but the bit that talks about me calling your office and insinuating that perhaps I called to ask you to do something untoward is unfair and makes me then doubt your intentions the more.”
He further hinted at plans to publicly share the content of the WhatsApp messages exchanged between him and the Special Prosecutor in order to set the record straight. “I will circulate our WhatsApp texts also to make the point that I only expressed concern about potential financial loss to Ghana.”
The exchange adds a new layer to the already contentious investigation surrounding Ken Ofori-Atta, who has been declared wanted by the OSP for failing to respond to a summons. The matter has drawn wide public interest and sharp political debate, with growing calls for transparency and accountability from all sides.

Ransford Gyampo is a NAIVE, UNINTELLIGENT, UNINTELLECTUAL academic! Gyampo, in his naivety, does NOT realise that he CANNOT be serving in a government and be CRITICISING other members of that government! It is unheard of; it does NOT happen anywhere in the world! The OSP (the Office of the Special Prosecutor) is TECHNICALLY part of the government of the day (of Ghana), because both institutions are working to IMPROVE the governance of Ghana. Therefore, Ransford Gyampo cannot be a member of su...
