
Frank Boahene, Managing Director of Green Grass Technology, the contractors of the training pitches for Ghana 2008 Africa Cup of Nations says the November 30 deadline is within reach. He said the major ingredients needed to build the three facilities each in Accra and Sekondi are all on site to ensure speedy progress of work.
The former head of corporate grounds at Premiership side, Fulham told GNA Sports that work on all six turfs are shaping up inspite of the occasional rains.
"We are on track as far as putting the grounds together is concerned. "We have made strides with the construction of drainage system, boreholes, irrigation and all the crucial complements needed to speed up work".
The pitches, which are to be used as training facilities for teams that will be housed at Accra and Sekondi for the 26th biennial championship, will have dressing rooms when completed.
Boahene told GNA Sports "the facilities will come with dressing rooms for home and away teams, showers and possibly stands to accommodate supporters".
The Presby Boys Secondary School, Achimota School and Accra Technical Training College (ATTC) Parks are being face-lifted to be used alongside El-Wak Stadium as training facility for the four teams to be based in Accra.
The teams in Sekondi will use Fijai Secondary School, Gyandu and Railway Parks.
