Imam Muniru Ali, the Volta Regional Chief Imam has advised Muslims to continue to exhibit the discipline they learned during the Ramadan fasting to till the end of the year.

Imam Muniru Ali, who made the call during the Eid-ul-Fitr celebration in Ho, said, “When a Muslim is fasting, it is not only his mouth and stomach that are fasting, his hands are fasting. His legs are fasting. So, after the fast, you are supposed to inculcate the discipline you learned in the fast throughout the rest of the year, after the fast, you are not supposed to go back to your old ways.”

He added, “Many Muslims, during the fasting, do all the good things Allah commands but after the fast, they revert to their old habits. Allah does not say that, so, my brothers and sisters, you should end the fast, but you must keep the discipline of the fasting. You must not go back to your old ways. The end of the fasting does not signify an era of evil acts.”

Members of the Muslim community also fervently prayed for the speedy recovery of Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, who fell ill last Friday, March 28. They asked for divine guidance for President John Dramani Mahama as well as for continued peace in the country.

He further stressed that a constant fear of Allah is essential for fostering peace and harmony in society, urging Muslims to continue avoiding sinful behaviour even after breaking the fast.

“Allah will open doors of great opportunities for those who fear Him and live in honesty all the time,” Imam Ali assured.

The Volta Regional Police Commander, ACP Wisdom Akorli, also addressed the gathering, urging the Muslim community to lead efforts in promoting peace and harmony within their communities in the broader national interest.

The event, which was held at the Police Depot at Ho, was attended by traditional rulers and representatives of other security agencies, reflecting a shared commitment to unity and national cohesion.
