John and Samuel Jinapor are two brothers who caught my attention as my interest in Ghanaian politics grew. When I realized that one was a politician on the platform of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the other was running on the National Democratic Congress' (NDC) platform, the subject became more intriguing. One of the things that crossed my mind was why the two brothers chose to run on two different political platforms. More importantly, is one brother smarter than the other?
As is scientifically known, the precise speed of the brain about a given task is typically attributed to intelligence. Although siblings may share parents, there is always a difference in intelligence between siblings. Is this the case with two brothers in Ghanaian politics, Samuel and John Jinapor? Why are some people smart and others not? Since our brains are known to function through chemical and electrical interactions, have the brothers been impacted in any way by the two opposing political platforms?
The efficiency and intelligence of the individuals who run a business or government determine its success. As is well known, Ghana's economy was booming, with affordable prices of commodities, before the NPP pledged to turn the nation into the "Dubai of Africa" after labeling Mahama corrupt and incompetent. The NDC ultimately lost the 2016 elections. Indeed, time will tell, and the Samuel Jinapor’s administration turned out to be the worst in the nation's political history in recent years.
On May 1, 2021, a story titled "The NPP commends first quarter achievements of MP Abu Jinapor" appeared on ModernGhana. On the same news platform, there was also a story titled "PDS Saga: Law Suit Against Government Eminent," in which John Jinapor emphasized that the government, which at the time was the NPP, could be sued by power distribution services and other organizations involved in power concession agreements. While the NPP is praising Samuel, John is revealing their crimes.
During my social media familiarization tour about these two politicians, brothers Samuel Abu Jinapor and John Jinapor, it concluded that their father, Buipewura Abdulai Jinapor II, was a respected traditional leader and a former Ashanti Mampong police officer. The two brothers may have made wise choices by running on opposing political platforms to benefit themselves while one party is in power and the other in the opposition; however, this makes one appear more astute and the other naive.
On social media, tribal politics and media portrayed John Mahama and the NDC as the most corrupt and incompetent government in Ghana's political history, even though the party was the best in terms of development projects and anti-corruption efforts. The NDC and John Mahama were the most hated subjects in Ghana, due to the power of false information coming from the Ashanti Region; therefore, the NDC party and its politicians never had it easy on any political social media platforms.
NPP politicians and supporters, who were made to believe that all NDC politicians, including John Mahama, were dishonest, frequently taunted and insulted John Jinapor. Without improving the welfare of the people, especially in the Ashanti Region, which is the party's strong base, furious Ghanaians who would not put up with Akufo Addo and Bawumia's dishonesty, corruption, and money laundering, which caused the economy, businesses, and investments to collapse, voted them out.
When comparing the NDC and NPP, I can say that Samuel Abu Jinapor joined the most incompetent, corrupt, and naïve government in Ghana, but Ghanaians were unaware of this until the NPP's state capture based on the “Agyapadie” concept exposed them. How can a government be so ruthless to embezzle so many funds and pillage state assets and properties while taxing the populace so much to pay off its debt? Thanks to Mahama for canceling the COVID-19, E-Levy, betting, and emission taxes.
The former Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Samuel Abu Jinapor, ignored his responsibilities and collaborated with his government to get involved in state capture, leading to the looting of the nation’s resources and properties. He also abused his office and collaborated with the former governor of the Bank of Ghana, Ernest Addison, to print illegal currency without the approval of parliament and engaged in state capture, which resulted in the plundering of the country's assets and resources.
Samuel Abu Jinapor abused his position by permitting illicit mining to increase more rapidly under the government of the NPP. The result was baby’s deformity, health problems, contaminated rivers, and environmental degradation, while they used the money from illegal mining to fund its political efforts. Regardless of how smart the two brothers are, both political parties influenced one another for John Jinapor to be a politician than Samuel Jinapor, and the NPP's defeat in the 2024 elections is proof of that.
