The Ministry of Communications, Digital Technology and Innovation has taken a significant step towards fostering innovations and supporting startups in the country.
This was disclosed when the Ministry held a meeting on Monday in Accra with the Vice President of Heritors Labs, Kofi Ocloo and consultants from the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) to discuss the Ghana Innovation and Startup Bill.
Mr Ocloo presented evidence reports, providing insights into the current landscape of innovation in Ghana to serve as a foundation for the ongoing development of the bill.
The Minister for Communications, Digital Technology and Innovation, Mr Samuel Nartey George, expressed enthusiasm for collaborating with Heritors Labs to finalise the bill.
He urged stakeholders to collaborate and make the bill satisfy the needs of Ghana’s entrepreneurs and innovators.
“We are committed to passing the Ghana Innovation and Startup Bill transparently and jointly. With inputs and guidance from key stakeholders, we aim to present a good and effective bill to Parliament,” Mr Nartey said.
The Ministry has outlined a structured three-step review process to gather feedback from committees, at zonal and national levels, ensuring broad input from stakeholders.
The key highlights of the bill include fostering innovation, the three-step review process, stakeholder validation, and a timeline for finalising the bill.
