The Member of Parliament (MP) for Akwapim North, Samuel Awuku popularly known as Sammi Awuku has resigned from his position as the Director General of the National Lottery Authority (NLA).
Mr. Awuku was appointed as Director General of the NLA in August 2021 by former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and received confirmation from the Public Services Commission in July 2022.
His resignation is communicated in a letter to new President John Dramani Mahama dated Monday, January 13.
“I write to formally inform you of my resignation as Director General of the National Lottery Authority (NLA) effective 13th January 2025,” the NPP stalwart said.
The letter continued, “I have been elected as the Member of Parliament for the Akwapim North constituency and have been duly sworn in to represent my constituents. In the light of this new responsibility, I wish to focus my efforts on serving as a Member of Parliament.”
In his resignation letter, Sammi Awuku requested that President John Dramani Mahama appoint a replacement for the position of Director General to facilitate a smooth transition and handover of responsibilities.
