For many Christians, we are looking forward to the second coming of Jesus Christ to save the world just as Ghanaians are eagerly waiting for the second coming of President John Mahama to save us from the mess and incompetence that have been experienced in the last 8 years. Indeed, salvation is near and on January 7th 2024, Ghanaians will gradually appreciate true leadership and a government that cares and works for all.

“At long last, the battle has ended and Ghana your beloved country is free forever”. About 67 years ago, the first president of the Republic of Ghana, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah made this profound statement. An indication of political freedom from the colonial masters and an opportunity for us as Ghanaians to charter our own path of progress and development.

These words of Dr. Nkrumah to me remains more relevant at this time in the life of Ghana than ever. Indeed, after the December 7th, 2024, elections, Ghanaians have chosen to free ourselves from opulence, disrespect, arrogance, abuse of incumbency, disregard for our revered traditional leaders, and deceit in the name of building a cathedral for God.

After 8 years of governance by President Akuffo Addo and Dr. Bawumia, the Ghanaian economy has become “hatahatahata”, we have experienced “gargantuan” abuse of power, I am certain the words of the late seasoned economist and Ghana’s ever serving longest deputy finance minister, Governor of the Bank of Ghana and Vice President, the late Paa Kwesi Bekoe Amissah Aruthur will ring a bell in their minds as they leave the corridors of power, “You cannot manage the economy with textbook knowledge” and lectures at Central University.

Ghanaians have made a bold, resounding and emphatic decision to bring back the Nation Builder and the history maker with proven record of competence in academia and public service, Prof. Naana Jane Opoku Agyemang to steer the affairs of the country in the next four years. This election marks a signifant sign of hope. It provides an opportunity to RESET the country and charter of path of economic, social, cultural progress.

The NDC led by President Mahama campaigned on thought through policies and proposals including the 24-hour economy to provide jobs and increase production, the establishment of a women’s development bank to address the core needs of women end enhance their trade and most importantly the need to ensure “ORAL hygiene”. The Dentists of the ORAL hygiene have started their work already and indeed, teeth that would have to be removed will be removed completely, those that require polishing and scaling will be neatly done.... Indeed, the NDC would work within the law to RECOVER ALL Looted money.

On January 7th, 2024, By the grace of God, President Mahama and Prof. Jane will be sworn in to take charge and steer the affairs of the country. These are experienced hands who know their way in government and have already set the ball rolling.

It is worth noting that, after this emphatic victory, Ghanaians have a lot of expectations from the NDC government. A good number of the youth are seeking for jobs, traders and businessmen and women are expecting a sound economy to revive their businesses, senior high school students are expectant of a better and improved free SHS, first year tertiary students are looking out for the free tuition among others. These expectations are valid and together we will build the Ghana we want and desire.

As we usher into a dawn, let us all bring our expertise to bear and work together for the interest of mother Ghana. I am certain that, the leadership of President Mahama and Prof. Jane will respect Ghanaians, treat us with dignity, put the interest of Ghana above their family and personal interest, accept responsibility and not engage in blame game and above all, operate the leanest yet effective government ever.

Fellow Ghanaians, the rebirth of hope, progress and dignity starts on the 7th of January 2024 and together we will build a Ghana where anybody can become somebody without necessarily knowing anybody. Just as my good friend and brother, Comrade Eric Adjei always says, the era of the “connection men” in government is over and this is time to experience real “engineers, electricians and planners” in government to build the Ghana we want.
