Trouble mounts at T’Poly

By myjoyonline

Students of the Takoradi Polytechnic are calling for the removal of their Principal, Dr Samuel Obeng Apori.

Speaking to Joy News, a student leader, Mr Bright Busungu said Dr Apori has woefully failed and must leave office immediately.

“The principal is inexperience, incompetent and student are saying he should go. We do not want him again,” he stated.

Mr Busungu alleged that Dr Apori has banned church services on campus and that has contributed to the immoral activities going on in the institution.

Last week the principal reviewed that 71 students have been sacked from Takoradi Poly for various campus offences, ranging from rape and alcoholism to poor academic performance. The offences include abnormally excessive desire for sex, open sex at the Takoradi Beach, rape, indecent dressing, extravagant lifestyles, alcoholism and the smoking of Indian hemp (wee).

“There is no iota of truth in the interview he granted Daily Graphic. If you are talking about alcoholism there is a counseling section on campus what is the use of that,” he said.

Mr Busungu said among the students' agitations is that since last December that they wrote examinations the results are still not due while they are about writing a different one.

Also, he said Dr Apori interfered in SRC election leading to an injunction placed on it.

“From today, we are boycotting all academic activities on campus. I want all students to comply with us. No examination is taking place until the principal goes away,” he pointed out.
