The Deputy National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Malik Basintale, has confidently stated that the NDC emerges victorious whenever elections are conducted free, fair, and transparent.

Speaking in an interview on JoyNews, Basintale highlighted the party’s consistent success when electoral integrity is upheld, referencing the 2024 election as proof of the people's trust in the NDC.

"It was an interesting one. We knew we were going to win. We knew the Ghanaian people were going to give us the mandate, and we were confident of winning with a large margin. Any time there is a free and fair election, the NDC wins," he asserted.

Reflecting on past elections, Basintale acknowledged unique circumstances that shaped the party's defeat in 2000, referencing the political climate surrounding former President Jerry John Rawlings.

"In 2000, we were transitioning from the 1992-2000 era, and many people still viewed Jerry Rawlings as a military figure. That perception influenced the outcome, but the NDC's strength is evident whenever vigilance and transparency prevail," he explained.

Addressing the 2016 elections, Basintale alleged irregularities, including external interference, which he claimed impacted the results.

"In 2016, the Electoral Commission (EC) confirmed that its systems were hacked. Based on our research, we believe this interference affected the outcome," he noted.

Highlighting the lessons learned, Basintale mentioned the importance of vigilance alongside strong campaigning efforts.

"We always have two major tasks during campaigns: engaging the people with our policies and ensuring vigilance to protect the integrity of the electoral process," he concluded.
