#Election2024: Voter suffers head injury as violence erupts in Odododiodio Video

Election day tensions in the Odododiodio Constituency of the Greater Accra Region boiled over at the Mantse Palace No.1 polling station, resulting in a violent altercation that left a male voter with a serious head injury.

A video circulating on social media captured the injured man bleeding heavily as onlookers gathered around him in alarm. Despite his wounds, the man remained visibly upset and was eventually escorted away to prevent further conflict with his alleged assailant.

Eyewitnesses report that the violence stemmed from a confrontation between a supporter of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and an official of the National Democratic Congress (NDC). The NPP supporter accused the NDC official of unlawfully moving the voter register to an unauthorized location away from the designated voting area. Efforts to settle the dispute escalated into a physical fight.

The NPP supporter involved in the clash was later taken to a nearby police station for questioning.

Odododiodio has long been considered a hotspot for election-related tensions, and this latest incident has renewed concerns about polling station security. Earlier in the day, reports surfaced about faint ink on ballot papers, raising fears of potential vote invalidation. The Electoral Commission (EC) quickly addressed the issue, assuring voters that all ballots would be properly validated and counted.

This altercation underscores the challenges of maintaining order and trust during elections in areas with a history of political unrest.
