Next Gen Infraco (NGIC), Ghana’s premier 5G wholesale infrastructure provider has launched 5G services in Ghana, marking a significant step toward nationwide digital transformation.

Collaborating with global technology leaders Nokia, Radisys and Tech Mahindra, NGIC is laying the groundwork to deliver high-speed, reliable 5G connectivity across the country.

NGIC’s rollout will begin in Ghana’s largest urban areas — Accra, Kumasi and Takoradi — with these cities expected to have 5G coverage by the end of 2024.

NGIC will then expand to additional urban centres with full nationwide coverage, including remote and rural areas, planned for completion by 2026.

The launch, themed “5G: Accelerating Ghana’s Digital Transformation,” aligns with Ghana’s Digital Agenda 2030 and the African Union’s Agenda 2063, underscoring a strategic commitment to fostering technological advancement and economic inclusivity across Ghana.

“Our commitment at NGIC is to provide the highest standard of 5G infrastructure that meets the needs of Ghana’s evolving digital landscape,” said Tenu Awoonor, CEO of NGIC in a statement dated November 1.

“We are dedicated to the long-term success of this platform, ensuring that 5G remains accessible, reliable, and transformative for every Ghanaian. This launch marks a critical step in realizing our vision of a connected Ghana where opportunity reaches every corner of the nation,” he added.

NGIC’s innovative wholesale model will enable telecommunications providers to leverage this infrastructure without having to build their own, making 5G services more affordable and accessible nationwide.

This approach is expected to bridge the digital divide and deliver high-speed connectivity to both urban and rural areas, driving inclusive economic growth in sectors like healthcare, education, and commerce.

Through this infrastructure, telecommunications providers can extend high-speed 5G to customers faster, boosting growth and digital inclusivity.
