The Bia East District Office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has held its inaugural Inter-Party Dialogue Committee (IPDC) meeting in Adabokrom, the district capital.

The IPDC serves as a platform for dialogue and collaboration among political parties, stakeholders, and citizens to address electoral concerns, promote tolerance, and mitigate potential conflicts.

In his welcome address, the District Director of the Commission, Mr. Augustine Quaicoe, stated that the primary objective of the IPDC is to ensure peace during the upcoming Presidential and Parliamentary elections and beyond. He emphasized that the committee must develop strategies to effectively disseminate educational messages to the public in order to achieve this goal.

Mr. Quaicoe highlighted that the educational campaign is centered around the theme "Together We Can Build Ghana, So Get Involved," focusing on key issues such as bribery in politics, misinformation and disinformation, religious tolerance, and electoral violence.

Nana Alphonse Sarpong, the Saanahene of Adabokrom, advised the youth to avoid electoral violence, warning that it could jeopardize their future.

Superintendent Joseph Oprah, the Bia East District Police Commander, spoke about the Public Order Act 491 of 1994, emphasizing the law's provisions for maintaining order during and after elections.

Detective Sergeant Abraham Mawon of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Ghana Police Service urged political parties to notify his department before organizing public events.

Fuseini Haruna, the Acting Imam of Adabokrom, underscored the importance of both Muslim and Christian leaders promoting messages of peace to their congregations.

The 30-member committee, which includes representatives from registered political parties, affiliated groups and youth wings, faith and community-based organizations, civil society groups, the Electoral Commission, the Commission for Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), security services, and traditional authorities, elected Nana Tawiah of Asem Nyinaakrom as its chairman.
