Joyce Bawah Mogtari, spokesperson for the John Mahama Campaign, has emphasized that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is committed to making realistic promises and reducing government expenditure.
Contrary to claims of unrealistic promises, Mogtari asserts that the NDC is being cautious and considerate in its solutions for the country's economic quagmire.
In an interview on JoyNews, Mogtari highlighted the importance of addressing the concerns of the poor by understanding their needs, a priority she has discussed with John Mahama.
She criticized the current government's excessive borrowing and spending.
"Imagine that we reduce the amount of government expenditure alone…over the years since Akufo-Addo has been in office, go and check huge sums of money.
“Office of government machinery, mind-boggling amount. Do you know the biggest challenge now for students on our campuses is accommodation? There are people outside and working who pay less than the students on campus. If I show you my phone you will be amazed," she stated.
Mogtari praised John Mahama stating, "There are still some amazing individuals in Ghana, and I think Mr Mahama is being measured."
She criticized Vice President Dr. Bawumia's campaigning promises, pointing out that the Cedi situation has worsened.
"The foreign exchange that he campaigned on, look at where it is today. The Bank of Ghana, which he continues to defend, has lost 50 billion. Can you imagine how much that can invest in tertiary education for our students?
“If we invested that in accommodation for students, can you imagine what that would look like?" Mogtari questioned.
