The Minister of Local Government Decentralization and Rural Development, Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah on Monday, 24th June, 2023 paid a day's working visit to the Obuasi Municipal Assembly.

.
The visit was to meet with Staff of the Assembly and inspect ongoing works under the Ghana Secondary Cities Support program ( GSCSP).

In an interaction with the Municipal Chief Executive and the assembly’s staff, the Minister said the visit was the first of his two-day visit to the Ashanti Region. He urged the municipal staff to maintain high standards of work and dedication to expedite the projects under the GSCSP highlighting the significant impact these developments would have on the communities.

After visiting the project site of the Obuasi Urban Park where workers were busy on site, Hon. Adjei Mensah Korsah challenged the Assembly and the contractors to speed up work to meet the 6-month completion period.

The Obuasi Urban park is a 800-1000 capacity recreational centre located near the Len Clay Stadium. It is expected to have mini conference rooms, auditorium, washrooms, playground and other facilities.

The Gh13 million project is financed from the Ghana Secondary Cities Support Program with Jaborah Construction Limited the contractors for the project.

The Local government minister assured of government's commitment to enhancing infrastructure and improving living conditions in the 35 beneficiary cities under the Ghana Secondary Cities Support Program across the country.

Meanwhile, the Chief Executive of the Obuasi Municipal Assembly Hon. Elijah Adansi- Bonah has assured residents that the Obuasi Urban Park project will meet the completion deadline emphasizing the challenge the Assembly went through relocating the artisans on the project site.

"We had a torrid time relocating the artisans from the project site to their new place at Biakoyeden. This is the reason for the delay of the project but we are working hard to meet the deadline," Hon Adansi-Bonah assured.

He said the recreational center project has been on the books of the Assembly for a long time and was excited it was finally seeing the light of day.
