The state on behalf of media personality Serwaa Amihere has filed a lawsuit against Henry Amponsah, also known as Henry Fitz and two others for the non-consensual sharing of an intimate video allegedly involving himself and the well-known TV anchor.
The alleged incident has sparked widespread outrage on social media.
According to court documents sighted by ModernGhana News on April 8, the lawsuit includes multiple charges, including conspiracy to commit a crime, non-consensual sharing of an intimate image, and sexual extortion.
The charges are in violation of Section 23(1) of the Criminal Offences Act 1960 (Act 29) and Section 67(2) of the Cybersecurity Act 2020 Act 1038.
In an excerpt from the lawsuit, it states: "For that you, on or before 3rd December 2023 at Accra in the Greater Accra Region and within the jurisdiction of this Court, did act together with a common purpose to commit a crime, namely Non-Consensual Sharing of Intimate Image."
The lawsuit also alleges that the accused individuals, Edem Saviour Ketti, Candylove Kwakyewaa Ababio, and Henry Amponsah (known as Henry Fitz), conspired to distribute a prohibited visual recording of Serwaa Amihere without her consent on various social media platforms which is against Section 67(1) of the Cybersecurity Act 2020 Act 1038.
The charges of sexual extortion, as outlined in the lawsuit, reveal that the accused individuals attempted to coerce Serwaa Amihere into paying about GHS25,000 of money in exchange for not distributing the prohibited visual recording which violates Section 66(1) of the Cybersecurity Act 2020 Act 1038.
Law enforcement authorities have already made progress in the case by arresting Edem Saviour Ketti at his hideout in Dzorwulu, Accra.
During investigations, Ketti admitted using his Ghana Card to register the MTN mobile money account allegedly used to receive the ransom. Efforts are currently underway to apprehend Henry Amponsah, also known as Henry Fitz.
