Minister of Education Dr Osei Yaw Adutwum has disclosed that his outfit is exploring opportunities to affiliate the Afia Kobi Ampem Girls Senior High School in the Ashanti Region to US-based institution for collaboration.
The partnership according to the Minister will be in the area of Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education, particularly Aeronautics and Aerospace engineering.
This comes after the Engineering Club of the all-female school, Afia Kobi Ampem Girls SHS, build and manned an aeroplane at the school.
The engineering club, led by a geography tutor, Master Ferdinand Sam has also build different types of drones and water crafts for the various security agencies in the country.
In his Facebook post on Thursday February 22, 2024, monitored by this reporter, the minister emphasized on how such projects could change the fortunes of the country with the right investment.
The Minister who is also Member of Parliament for Bosomtwe constituency assured Ghanaian students of his unflinching commitment to making education a more robust and STEM based one.
He commended students of Afia Kobi Ampem Girls SHS, adding that their exploits are worth emulating.

Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem Girls SHS engineering club, based in the Ashanti Region, showcased its prowess by constructing and flying a new aircraft. The model airplane serves the purpose of aiding security and surveillance through data collection.
The club emphasizes hands-on learning, providing students with practical training in aviation and aerospace industries, while also encouraging young women to pursue careers in typically male-dominated fields.
Additionally, the Ministry is exploring opportunities to affiliate the school with a US-based institution for collaboration in Aeronautics and Aerospace engineering.
