Anita Akua Akuffo, a renowned broadcast journalist and TV presenter with TV3, has revealed how she chose to pursue her dreams of a career in journalism over staying in a relationship with her former boyfriend.
In an Instagram post, Ms. Akuffo shared that years ago while she was in level 200 studying for her degree, she wanted to enter a beauty pageant to boost her profile and kickstart her television career.
However, her then-boyfriend was against the idea, feeling that pageantry was "not good".
"'This person was against me taking part in the pageant because he felt it wasn't good.' When I shared what my true intentions were for wanting to take part and the fact that it will be a great platform to start my Tv career, this person angrily asked me to choose between him and pursuing my agenda!” she revealed in an instagram story.
“I chose the pageant and ditched him. I knew what I wanted and absolutely nothing was going to stop me," she added.
After going through 13 weeks of competition, Ms. Akuffo was doing well and stood a chance to win.
Only then did her ex-boyfriend return to support her. But as she puts it, "it was too late."
She advised that "anyone who can't support your dreams, no matter how crazy they are, doesn't deserve a seat at the table."
