Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya, Sarah Adwoa Safo, is confident voters in her constituency will forgive her long absence and vote for her again in the 2024 elections.

Adwoa Safo sparked controversy last year after leaving her roles as Gender Minister and MP without official permission for an extended period. This angered many in her constituency and party who felt abandoned and planned to impeach her.

However, speaking to journalists after her vetting to retain the NPP candidacy on Wednesday, January 4, Adwoa Safo said she has apologized to voters.

She acknowledged making mistakes but believes her open admission of fault and request for forgiveness have touched many hearts.

"It takes courage for a politician to accept wrongdoing and ask for pardon. I believe my admission and apology have touched the hearts of people in Dome-Kwabenya," she said.

"I know they will still vote for me into power because it's not easy for a woman in my position to own up to errors," the MP added.

She is set to face her 2020 contender Mike Oquaye Jnr, whom she defeated with only a 8-vote margin.
