Ghanaian Engineer and Politician, Kwabena Agyei Agyapong has taken a formal step to contest the flagbearership of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The forms which cost GHS50,000 was picked on Friday, May 26, when the party opened the nominations.
In the past year, the former General Secretary had time and again stressed that he wants to lead the NPP into the 2024 general election as its flagbearer.
He insists that under him, a New Dawn beckons on Ghana’s political landscape anchored on the restoration of cherished values of service sacrifice, and selflessness.
He maintains that his passion is to see the transformation of the country.
Mr. Agyepong has pledged that if he becomes President, he will cut waste by leading a lean, effective, and efficient government machinery primed to deliver meaningful development to the underserved population.
When the time comes for delegates to vote in the NPP presidential primaries, he wants delegates to choose wisely by looking out for a leader with innovative ideas and a clear understanding of where they want to take the country.
He has also implored delegates to trust his capacity and fortitude to take the difficult decisions needed to reverse the country’s economic decline.
Meanwhile, Kwabena Agyepong is calling on other aspirants to agree to a debate for Ghanaians and delegates to assess and choose who the best candidate is.
“Ghanaians are entitled and deserve to examine and know what each of us stands for. Our ideas, policy priorities and preferences, our temperament and character all matter.
"If you want to lead the people of Ghana then you should be humble enough to submit yourself for scrutiny by the people,” he argued.
Ahead of the primaries in November, Kwabena Agyei Agyepong is backing the National Executives and Elders of the NPP to oversee an election conducted in a spirit of fairness and equity devoid of manipulation, coercion, and favoritism.
