Battor Roman Catholic Basic school in the North Tongu District of the Volta region has held its annual end of year ceremony for its pupils with fundraising in aid of the construction of a fence wall around the school, which was initiated by the parents and Teachers Association (PTA).
Mr Elvis Jones Nartey Addo, the headteacher of the school in his speech during the ceremony noted that the school must be the place for continuous interaction between parents, teachers, students and management.
He said such social cohesion occurred usually on special days like "open day" which provides the opportunity for parents and guardians to be informed of happenings in schools.
He added that problems such as unavailability of portable water and careless riding of motorbikes in and around the school premises are some of the problems to address hence the need to fence the school to avoid any untoward happenings.
Mr Divine Osborn Kwadzo Fenu, the District Chief Executive for North Tongu District (DCE) in his remarks praised the headmaster for his efforts.
He described Mr Addo as hardworking, focused and determined brother with whom he grew up.
Mr Fenu told ModernGhana News that, they both attended the same school from basic level to second cycle institution in different Teacher Training Colleges and now back serving their alma mater.
"I share the same bed with Mr Addo at University Of Ghana, Commonwealth Hall whilst we came back and teach in the same district," he disclosed.
He further urged the student's body to learn hard and take a lesson from their friendship.
Mr Fenu however praised parents who were present at the ceremony for their determination and hard work in getting the best for their children.
He further donated an undisclosed amount of money to the school in support of the construction of the fence.
