The CEO of Miracle Films Productions, Rev. Samuel Nyamekye, has expressed disappointment over the absence of government officials at the funeral of veteran actress, Grace Nortey.
Speaking on Peace FM, he questioned why no minister or representative from any government institution attended the funeral despite the actress' contribution to Ghana's film industry.
“Considering what happened at Grace Nortey's funeral, I have been thinking about it because I would not be happy if the same thing happened to me. We all know what Grace contributed to the industry. She was a familiar face to everyone and worked with several ministers during her career,” he said.
Rev. Nyamekye said the situation had raised concerns about how other industry players, especially those based outside Accra, would be treated when they pass away.
“It is disappointing that there was no representation from the Ministry or any government institution. If something like this happens to those of us in Kumasi, will the minister also fail to attend?” he asked.
He further suggested that the absence of government officials may have affected the number of actors who attended the funeral.
He said prominent industry figures should have encouraged their colleagues to attend and pay their last respects to the late actress.
