Ghanaian broadcaster Kwabena Bobie Ansah has rendered an unqualified apology to dancehall musician Stonebwoy following his recent comments in which he chose Shatta Wale over the BHIM Nation president.
In a public post, Kwabena Bobie Ansah expressed regret over his remarks, insisting that he never intended to disrespect Stonebwoy or undermine his contribution to the Ghanaian music industry.
Addressing the musician directly, he acknowledged Stonebwoy's achievements and described him as a legend in his own right, stressing that his personal preference for Shatta Wale should not be interpreted as an attack on Stonebwoy's personality or musical career.
“Nyɛbro, you’ve played your role in the Ghana music industry and a legend in your own rights, I therefore cannot in anyway run you down or disrespect you,” he stated in his apology.
Kwabena Bobie Ansah further explained that his decision to apologise was not influenced by insults from Stonebwoy's supporters but by the musician's apparent displeasure with his comments.
He maintained that he had made what he considered a genuine observation but acknowledged the need to address the situation after realising that his remarks had offended the award-winning musician.
The broadcaster also used the opportunity to speak about his resilience, claiming that he had faced political opposition and attacks for 18 years without backing down. He insisted that online insults would not intimidate him, adding that his apology was an act of reconciliation rather than a response to pressure from fans.
In another part of his message, Kwabena Bobie Ansah disclosed that he rarely listens to Ghanaian music, although he enjoys songs by Black Sherif and Kofi Kinaata. He also openly declared himself a fan of Black Sherif.
Despite his preference for Shatta Wale, he reaffirmed his willingness to support Stonebwoy and called for peace and mutual respect between them.
“I’m here to support you any day, any time. It takes you and I to make Ghana a better place, practically we cannot live under the roof of hostility,” he added.
The apology comes amid ongoing discussions among music fans about the longstanding rivalry between Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy, two of Ghana's most prominent dancehall artistes.
