NACOC, Immigration Service destroy cannabis farms in Nadowli District

The Upper West Regional Command of the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC), in collaboration with the Ghana Immigration Service, has destroyed several cannabis farms during a joint operation in the Nadowli District.

The exercise, conducted at identified locations in the district, followed intelligence provided by officers of the Ghana Immigration Service, according to a NACOC statement issued on October 31.

The operation led the team to several cannabis plantations at Siiru, a community close to the Black Volta, where some of the plants had already been harvested while others were nearing maturity.

Further inspections uncovered cannabis cultivation in unfinished buildings, in front of residential properties and alongside maize farms.

The officers subsequently destroyed the identified cannabis plants by setting them on fire.

After the operation, the team engaged residents on the dangers and legal consequences associated with cannabis cultivation and substance abuse.

Community members were also encouraged to support law enforcement agencies by providing information and cooperating with efforts to clamp down on illegal drug-related activities.
