Bishop Daniel Obinim, the founder and leader of the International God's Way Church, insists that his wife, Florence Obinim, must distance herself from people he considers his enemies before he will consider reconciling with her.
He said he would ask the court to compel Florence to sign a bond committing herself to staying away from the individuals as part of any agreement for him to return.
Speaking during a sermon at his church, Obinim maintained that their marriage had not officially collapsed, although he had left their matrimonial home.
He said Florence told the court she was still living in their matrimonial home, while he had walked out of the marriage.
According to him, a judge could direct him to return to the marriage if the court determined that it had not been formally dissolved.
However, Obinim said he would refuse to return unless his conditions were met.
“Even if I consider going back, it will be on the condition that she stays away from the people she has gotten close to. If she won't do that, then the marriage should be cancelled as soon as possible,” he said.
He added that Florence would be required to sign a bond promising not to associate with those he considers his enemies.
“If she agrees to stay away from them, I will tell the judge to let her sign a bond that she will never go close to my enemies, and if she does, I will pack out again and never return,” he stated.
Obinim's comments indicate that any possibility of reconciliation would depend on Florence accepting his demands, failing which he would prefer the marriage to be dissolved as soon as possible.
