The Chief Executive Officer of BrakoVerse Media, Kwame‑Michael Brako, is urging deliberate national investment in Visual Effects (VFX) and animation to elevate Ghana’s film industry to global standards.

In a statement shared on Instagram, Brako said Ghana has the creative capacity to produce world‑class stories, shows and films — but only if animation and VFX receive the attention and financing they deserve.

“Imagine if Ghana pushed film to the next level with visual effects and animation. The next level of stories, shows and movies that could be made,” he wrote.

He argued that the lack of support for animation and VFX continues to limit Ghana’s potential and keeps the country out of conversations about Africa’s most advanced film industries. According to him, discussions about the continent’s entertainment growth often highlight Nigeria, Kenya and South Africa, despite Ghana’s long history of leading African storytelling.

“We are often left out of the conversation when it comes to funding and grants. Infrastructure and training is a challenge of its own,” he noted.

Brako said creatives are ready to lead the charge, but institutions and organisations have yet to fully embrace the opportunity to support emerging talent. He revealed that his companies — BrakoVerse Animation and BrakoVerse FilmFX — are already working to close the gap.

“The moment the industry takes it serious, I feel that the country will advance its productions to the next level,” he said.

He questioned whether Ghana is prepared to fully embrace its animators and VFX artists, stressing that the skills exist but financing and opportunities remain scarce.

“We have people with the skills but no financing or opportunities. Let’s make it work,” he added.
