Actor Van Vicker has stressed that “defamation is not freedom of expression” as he publicly confirms his decision to sue fellow actor Lil Win over alleged defamatory remarks.
In a Facebook post accompanying a writ of summons, Van Vicker said the matter is now before the court and that he intends to allow the legal process to run its course.
“My reputation matters, and I stand by the pursuit of justice,” he wrote.
Van Vicker is seeking GH¢10 million in damages over comments Lil Win made regarding their disagreement on a movie project. In the suit, dated October 10, 2026, he also asks the court to compel Lil Win to publish an apology and retraction on major news portals for four consecutive weeks, in addition to paying legal costs.
The lawsuit stems from a video in which Lil Win accused Van Vicker of failing to fulfil his responsibilities on a film production and ignoring calls from the production team. Van Vicker denies the claims, arguing that they portray him as dishonest and unprofessional, and could cause significant harm to his reputation.
