Media personality Abena Moet has called on the Ghana Music Rights Organisation (GHAMRO) to establish a clear and effective system for collecting royalties from media houses, warning that the ongoing dispute will persist without a lasting solution.
Speaking on United Showbiz, she urged the organisation’s leadership to develop a better strategy for royalty collection, arguing that an efficient system would generate more revenue and enable GHAMRO to pay musicians appropriately.
Abena Moet also expressed concern about the lack of interest among some artistes in GHAMRO-related issues, attributing it partly to the discouraging amounts they receive in royalty payments. She further criticised what she described as the leadership’s failure to take meaningful steps to address the organisation’s challenges.
She stressed that improving royalty collection and ensuring fair payments could help restore musicians’ confidence in GHAMRO and encourage greater interest in its activities.
