Entertainment pundit Arnold Asamoah-Baidoo has called on the Ghana Music Rights Organisation (GHAMRO) and media houses to find common ground and work together to resolve the ongoing dispute over royalty payments.
Speaking during a discussion on United Showbiz, Arnold stressed the need for both parties to engage in constructive dialogue to address their differences and establish a lasting solution to the disagreement.
According to him, media houses that refuse to pay royalties for the use of copyrighted music are not acting appropriately, as such payments are important to protecting the rights and interests of music creators.
However, he urged GHAMRO to adopt a collaborative approach by engaging the media organisations in meaningful discussions to encourage compliance and resolve the issue amicably.
Arnold believes that a good-faith discussion between GHAMRO and the affected media houses could help address their concerns and create a better understanding of their respective responsibilities regarding royalty payments.
His comments come amid ongoing discussions about the collection of royalties from media organisations and the need to ensure that musicians and other rights holders receive compensation for the use of their creative works.
