Veteran Nigerian actor Pete Edochie has called attention to the condition of Ghanaian actor Emmanuel Armah after paying him a personal visit in Ghana.
Edochie, who is in the country for the launch of his Legacy Project, visited his longtime friend and former colleague, who has been out of the entertainment industry for several years after suffering a stroke.
The stroke affected Armah’s speech and mobility, and the actor now uses a wheelchair and requires assistance with aspects of his daily life.
As part of the visit, Edochie offered Armah financial assistance to help meet his needs. He also presented him with an additional amount he had previously received as a gift.
Edochie further encouraged the public to remember Armah in their prayers, bringing renewed attention to the challenges facing the veteran actor.
Armah is regarded as one of the familiar faces from the formative years of Ghana-Nigeria film collaborations. His work during that period helped strengthen the professional relationship between actors and filmmakers from both countries.
His friendship with Edochie dates back several years, with the pair having worked together on a number of productions in Nigeria.
The reunion provided an opportunity for Edochie to reconnect with an old friend while offering support during a challenging chapter of Armah’s life.
The visit has also highlighted broader concerns about the welfare of veteran performers, many of whom contributed significantly to the development of Ghana’s and Nigeria’s film industries but now face difficult circumstances away from the spotlight.
