Ghanaian gospel musician Piesie Esther has attributed her 24-year career in the gospel music industry to the grace of God and her commitment to the Word of God.
According to the award-winning musician, remaining relevant in the industry for such a long period requires more than achieving success, as sustaining that success comes with its own challenges.
She said her journey has had moments when she considered stepping away from music to pursue other interests, but her faith has continued to give her the strength to remain focused.
“There is one thing I always talk about. Just be focused. Know where you are going, know your target. When you know all these things, you are good to go because there is this God that will help you to achieve whatever that you want to achieve,” Piesie Esther said when speaking on Accra-based TV3’s Afternoon Show on Wednesday, September 30.
The 'Waye Me Yie' singer likened sustaining a successful music career to maintaining an expensive car.
She explained that while acquiring an expensive car may be a major achievement, maintaining it through regular servicing and fuel costs requires continuous effort.
Piesie Esther said the same principle applies to a gospel music career, stressing that remaining active and relevant for 24 years has required consistent effort and divine support.
“For you to be a gospel musician, to sustain till this time, it takes the grace of God. You can be anywhere, but for you to sustain, this is 24 years in ministry,” she said.
The musician also acknowledged that there have been difficult periods when she felt like quitting, particularly when the demands of the industry became overwhelming.
She, however, said the Word of God has been her source of strength and has helped her maintain her focus throughout her career.
Piesie Esther encouraged aspiring musicians to remain focused on their goals and trust God to help them achieve their ambitions.
