The music industry is mourning the tragic loss of British-Nigerian singer, songwriter, and producer Talay Riley, who has died at the age of 35 following a fatal stabbing in East London.
According to the Metropolitan Police, officers responded to reports of a stabbing incident in the Silvertown area of East London at around 9:00 a.m. on Friday, June 5. Emergency responders found Riley, whose real name was Mark Orabiyi, suffering from stab wounds in the garden of a property near Rayleigh Road. Despite efforts by paramedics to save his life, he was pronounced dead. Authorities have since launched a murder investigation into the incident.
Police confirmed that three individuals were arrested in connection with the case. A 27-year-old man was later released on bail pending further investigations, while a 24-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman were released without further action. Detectives continue to appeal for witnesses and anyone with CCTV or video footage from the area to come forward as inquiries continue.
Talay Riley was widely respected in the global music industry for his songwriting talents and contributions to numerous chart-topping records. Throughout his career, he collaborated with major artists including Britney Spears, Craig David, Jessie J, Ellie Goulding, Khalid, and Kehlani.
