Nana Ama McBrown Snubs TGMA Invite — Says Showing Up Is Too Costly

Actress and television host Nana Ama McBrown has revealed that she intentionally ignored an invitation to attend the 2026 Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMAs).

Speaking on Onua TV, McBrown explained that the invitation was relayed through a third party, identified as Kobby, but she chose not to respond.

“For me, it was Kobby who called me. I haven't even replied him. I didn't answer him,” she said.

Her comments come amid public discussions about the noticeable absence of several top celebrities on this year’s TGMA red carpet.

According to McBrown, attending award shows can be financially demanding, especially for celebrities who are neither nominated nor performing.

She argued that organisers should not expect public figures to spend their own money simply to make an appearance.

“TGMA can't invite me to a red carpet while I don't have a song. They're aware it's expensive to show up,” she stated.
