Zenith University College Law Faculty ranks among Ghana's top five at Supreme Court Constitutional Moot Court Competition

The Faculty of Law at Zenith University College has cemented its place among Ghana's leading legal training institutions after securing a top-five finish at the Supreme Court @150 National Constitutional Moot Court Competition.

The competition, held from July 20 to 21, 2026, brought together 11 law faculties from universities across the country to test students' legal research, constitutional interpretation and courtroom advocacy skills.

Team Zenith delivered an impressive performance, emerging as the winner of the Best Plaintiff Memorial award with a score of 82.50 points. The prestigious award was presented by the Chief Justice of the Republic of Ghana, Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie, in recognition of the team's outstanding written legal submissions.

The university also finished fifth overall in the national competition with a cumulative score of 71.11 points, while earning the distinction of being the second-best performing private law faculty in Ghana.

Zenith's success was further highlighted by the individual performances of two student advocates who were ranked among the country's best oral advocates. Joseph Kobina Koomson placed fifth overall with 81.67 points, while Nana Serwah Agyemang secured seventh place with 78.00 points, earning both students places among the competition's Top 10 Oralists.

The achievement underscores the Faculty of Law's growing reputation for academic excellence and practical legal training, with the university continuing to produce students capable of competing with the country's most established law schools.

The Faculty congratulated the University of Ghana School of Law for emerging overall champions of the competition and GIMPA Law School for placing second.

The university also paid glowing tribute to its Registrar, Alhaji Nasaru Abdul-Rahman, for his unwavering support and commitment to the team's preparation and participation.

Faculty members described his leadership and encouragement as instrumental to the team's success, noting that his continuous investment in academic excellence has contributed significantly to the development of legal education at Zenith University College.

Special recognition was also extended to Coach and Coordinator, Mr. David D. Olaga, Esq., and Chief Advisor, Mr. Philip K. Buabeng, Esq., for their mentorship and guidance throughout the competition.

The university further commended the entire team of student advocates comprising Joseph Kobina Koomson, Nana Serwah Agyemang, Grace Okaniokor Agordzo, Frederick Bawa, Divine Agyei, and Asemfoforoba Boateng Nketiah for their dedication, discipline and exemplary representation of the institution.

The Supreme Court @150 National Constitutional Moot Court Competition formed part of activities marking the 150th anniversary of Ghana's Supreme Court and provided a platform for law students to demonstrate their advocacy skills while deepening their understanding of constitutional law and judicial practice.
