Al Nassr missed the chance to secure the Saudi Pro League title after a heartbreaking late equaliser against rivals Al Hilal in a dramatic Riyadh derby.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s side were just seconds away from a crucial victory before a costly mistake involving goalkeeper Bento and defender Inigo Martinez gifted Al Hilal a stoppage-time goal in a 1-1 draw. The result has kept the title race alive heading into the final round of matches.
Al Nassr had looked set to celebrate a massive win after Mohamed Simakan’s first-half goal gave them the lead. The team controlled most parts of the game and appeared comfortable until late confusion at the back changed everything.
The dramatic moment came deep into injury time when a harmless delivery into the box turned disastrous. Goalkeeper Bento failed to deal with the ball properly after colliding with his teammate, allowing the ball to end up in the net. The mistake left fans and players stunned, with Cristiano Ronaldo visibly frustrated after the final whistle.
Despite the disappointing draw, Al Nassr still remain top of the league table and now need a victory against Damac FC on May 21 to officially become champions. However, the pressure has increased significantly as Al Hilal continue to chase them closely in the title race.
