Ghanaian music icon Okyeame Kwame will turn 50 this April, and he is marking the milestone with a legacy project that goes far beyond celebration. The award‑winning artiste is constructing a pediatric emergency centre at the Manhyia District Hospital in Kumasi, a gesture that underscores his long-standing commitment to national development and child welfare.
The facility, which forms the heart of his 50th birthday activities, is expected to significantly enhance emergency healthcare delivery for children in the Ashanti Region. It also reflects Okyeame Kwame’s broader mission to use his influence for social impact, extending his contributions well beyond music.
As part of the celebrations, he will host a star‑studded birthday concert on April 18 at +233 Jazz Bar & Grill in Accra, starting at 9 p.m. The night will feature electrifying performances from some of Ghana’s top artistes, including Kuami Eugene, KiDi, King Paluta, Amerado, MzVee, Sista Afia, Afriyie Wutah, Kwabena Kwabena, Kweku Darlington, Abiana, Akwaboah, Abochi, Bradez, Ras Kuuku, Adina, and Andy Dosty.
Tickets are priced at GHS 1,500 (VVIP) and GHS 1,000 (VIP), with all proceeds dedicated to the construction of the pediatric emergency centre—an initiative poised to save countless young lives in Kumasi.
Throughout his career, Okyeame Kwame has championed Ghanaian culture and identity, promoting indigenous languages such as Akan in his music, advancing the “Made in Ghana” agenda, and representing the country on global arts and tourism platforms. By dedicating his 50th birthday to a project of lasting social value, he reinforces his image as not only a celebrated entertainer but also a nation builder committed to meaningful change.
