Marriage found me at age 19, my parents arranged it and it worked – Patience Ozokwo

Veteran Nollywood actress Patience Ozokwo has revealed that she was married at age 19 through an arrangement made by her parents.

“Marriage found me at just 19. It wasn't my choice; my parents arranged it. At first, I was scared. I didn't know how to love a man I didn't choose,” she wrote in a post on X.

The actress added that she was initially scared because she did not choose her husband herself, but love later grew between them. The couple spent 23 years together, although her husband was ill for 15 years before he died in 2000.

Patience Ozokwo said they had three children and that she later adopted five more, with one of the adopted children passing away, leaving her with seven children.

She added that she never remarried after her husband's death, choosing instead to focus on raising her children and instilling values of respect, responsibility, and commitment.
