Ghanaian reggae artist Black I has officially released “Warrior,” a powerful new single produced by OGYA 420 Drumz, marking a bold step forward in both sound and vision. Blending hip-hop influence with reggae consciousness, Warrior stands as an anthem of resilience, resistance, and self- determination in a rapidly changing world.

The inspiration for Warrior came during a reflective drive through the Ghanaian countryside. While listening to a hip-hop track, Black I felt compelled to explore a crossover sound—one that could carry a modern edge without losing its spiritual and cultural grounding.
“I wanted Warrior to carry the sound of resilience and resistance to the system as a people,” Black I explains.

The collaboration with OGYA 420 Drumz was built on long-standing respect and personal history. Black I and OGYA 420 first connected years ago through school life and time spent in Cape Coast, developing a bond that would later translate into musical chemistry.
What drew Black I to OGYA 420’s production was his distinctive approach—especially his use of heavy drums and unconventional rhythmic patterns.

“I knew I wanted the song on a crossover beat, but I also needed someone who could connect with me on a musical journey,” he says.
That connection is evident in Warrior, where militant rhythms meet conscious lyricism, creating a sound that is both aggressive and reflective.

With the music industry increasingly driven by online platforms, Black I and his team have adopted a digital-first promotional strategy, while still maintaining traditional outreach.
“That’s where the music business has shifted now,” he notes. “There’s more emphasis on digital marketing at the moment.”

The goal is clear: to build and cultivate a new fan base across the Americas, the UK, Europe, and the global diaspora.

Despite the digital focus, Black I remains firm on the role of DJs and selectors in breaking records. “DJs and selectors are the backbone of the music industry.”
Ahead of the official release, Warrior was distributed directly to DJs and selectors within his network. A media tour is also planned, aimed at reconnecting with fans, DJs, and industry tastemakers.

To support the release, a lyric video is scheduled to drop shortly, with plans underway for an official music video. Social media remains central to the campaign, offering direct engagement with listeners and expanding reach across regions.

Warrior serves as the lead single from Black I’s forthcoming EP, Unmuted, set for release in January. The project is entirely produced by OGYA 420 Drumz and represents a significant evolution in Black I’s artistry.
Known for his traditional one-drop reggae sound, Black I views Warrior as a turning point.
