Ghanaian actress and media personality Nana Ama McBrown has opened up about her divorce, emphasizing that separation does not mark the end of a woman’s life.
In a heartfelt interview on Accra-based TV3, McBrown described the decision to end her marriage as mutual, explaining that both partners had become emotionally exhausted. She revealed that the past two years have been a period of deep personal transformation, involving the rebuilding of her marriage, health, and career.
“Divorce can never, should never be your end,” she stated. “I believe I’m the strongest, and this experience has made me happier and more resilient.”
McBrown said the separation was amicable, with both families maintaining close ties and prioritizing the wellbeing of their daughter, Maxine. “Yes, I’m divorced and I’m not ashamed to say it, but I did it so beautifully. We were tired. He was tired. We sat down, talked and decided to move on,” she added.
The actress also highlighted that she continues to share a positive relationship with her former husband and in-laws, describing it as a friendship built on respect, maturity, and shared responsibility for their child.
Nana Ama McBrown and Maxwell Mensah tied the knot in a private surprise wedding and engagement ceremony on August 5, 2016, at the Christ Apostolic Church in Alajo, Accra, officiated by Rev. Felix Owusu Sekyere.
Despite the end of her marriage, McBrown’s message is clear: divorce is not a failure but an opportunity for personal growth, strength, and happiness.
