How a spontaneous moment in a Birmingham Ital kitchen turned into one of Samini’s most powerful releases of the decade.
When Ghanaian music icon Samini stepped into the UK in the summer of 2024 to visit his long-time producer Rodney King in Birmingham, he didn’t know he was walking into the beginning of a new creative chapter. What started as a friendly industry visit quickly evolved into a historic collaboration — one that would birth “Far Away,” a conscious, uplifting dancehall-reggae anthem now buzzing across Africa, Jamaica, and the UK.
A Meeting Meant to Happen
During Samini’s visit, Rodney King introduced him to Ira Queely, the Jamaican-British producer behind Stand Proud Production and a key creative talent signed under RKMG Publishing. Known for his clean, roots-inspired sound and bold fusion ideas, Ira had already carved a niche in the UK reggae and dancehall space. But this meeting would set the stage for something special.
Their first stop was Stand Proud Studios, a sanctuary of authentic Jamaican creativity. But the real magic didn’t happen inside the booth — it happened in Ira’s Ital kitchen, where Samini casually vibed with the crew, freestyling over homemade rhythms and soaking in the energy of the space.
The Birth of “Far Away”
Among the beats Ira had been crafting was the warm, spiritually grounded “Family Riddim.” Its clean chords, deep bassline, and airy percussion instantly caught Samini’s attention.
Before long, he was freestyling melodies, sketching lines, and shaping a message straight from the soul. Within hours, Far Away was born.
The chemistry was undeniable — Samini’s lyrical depth blended seamlessly with Ira’s roots-modern production style. The result was a record that felt timeless, pure, and universally relatable.
Samini’s Message: Stay Focused, Stay Grounded
Speaking on the meaning behind the song, Samini shared:
“It’s about recognizing the energy around you. When you’re pushing forward in life, not everyone clapping for you means well. Far Away is my reminder to keep moving, keep winning, and stay grounded no matter who tries to pull you back.”
This message — spiritual, reflective, and empowering — fits perfectly with Ira’s vision of music that uplifts and connects people across cultures.
Ira Queely’s Vision: A Bridge Between Africa, Jamaica & the UK For Ira, Far Away is only the beginning. His mission is clear: to collaborate with more African artists and introduce their talent to Jamaican and UK audiences, creating a powerful cultural bridge.
With Stand Proud Production and RKMG Publishing behind him, Ira is positioning himself as a key figure in uniting global reggae, Afro-dancehall, and conscious music.
A Preview of ORIGIN8A
The single “Far Away” was released exclusively on Audiomack on November 6, serving as the official warm-up to ORIGIN8A — Samini’s upcoming project designed to showcase his evolution, maturity, and artistic rebirth.
And at the heart of this new chapter stands Ira Queely, a visionary producer whose authenticity, roots energy, and collaborative spirit helped create one of the most refreshing reggae-dancehall singles of 2025 /2026.
