Nii Noi, a Ghanaian music executive, has initiated a discussion about the challenges gospel musicians face in making a living from their talent compared to their secular colleagues.
He clarified on Onua Showtime that the majority of gospel performers' shows are free since they frequently find it difficult to attract people.
In contrast to secular artists whose followers are prepared to spend up to GH¢1,000 for performances, he said a gospel show for GH¢500 per ticket would probably have a low turnout.
“The maximum amount a gospel event can charge is around GHC200, and even that is difficult for people to come. That is why the best option is to do it for free, and you will get more people to attend,” Nii Noi stated.
He went on to say that free gospel gatherings typically raise more money through fundraising than through ticket sales.
"The free event allows people to donate more than GHC200 during fundraising, which can help you pay off your debts after the program," he stated.
