Nigerian rapper Ice Prince has revealed that he is still struggling to heal from the tragic death of South African hip-hop star AKA, admitting their friendship ended on a bitter note.
Speaking on the G2G Podcast, Ice Prince confessed that he deeply regrets not reconciling with AKA before his murder in February 2023.
The pair reportedly fell out after the South African rapper's controversial comments about Nigerians during the 2019 xenophobic attacks, which Ice Prince publicly opposed.
“I wish we got to speak about it because we never did. And it hurt me so bad because that's my friend,” he said, recalling AKA's frequent visits to his Lagos home.
The Oleku hitmaker added that he has prayed for forgiveness over their unresolved rift and often remembers AKA during prayer. “Sometimes, when I'm praying, I see him there. So, I know we are at peace. I know he looks out for me as one of my homeboys in heaven,” he reflected.
AKA, born Kiernan Forbes, was shot dead outside a Durban restaurant on February 10, 2023. His murder trial remains ongoing.
