Kwame Asare Obeng, widely known as A Plus and the Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central, has expressed his strong support for Dzifa Gomashie, the Minister nominee for Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts, during a parliamentary debate on Thursday, January 23, 2025.
Addressing the House, A Plus praised Dzifa Gomashie’s extensive contributions to the creative arts sector and her qualifications for the ministerial role.
“Apart from being a deputy minister in John Mahama’s first term, she is an actress, a screenwriter, and a key contributor to the growth of the creative arts industry. She has the requisite experience to deliver and to unearth talent, especially in rural areas,” he stated.
Drawing attention to Ghana’s untapped tourism potential, A Plus compared the country’s historical and cultural landmarks to popular international destinations.
“People travel to Israel to see where Jesus had a conversation with Satan or where Jacob fought an angel. While I may not have evidence to disprove those, we do have historical evidence here in Ghana, like where Kwame Nkrumah lived when he returned to Ghana. If we improve these sites, we can bring tourists and revenue into the country,” he argued.
The MP expressed optimism about Dzifa Gomashie’s tenure and called on Parliament and the public to support her nomination. “I believe we are going to see a new face of tourism and creative arts, and I wish her all the best. Let’s support her to become the next minister,” he concluded.
Dzifa Gomashie’s nomination has garnered significant attention, with many in the creative arts and tourism sectors anticipating her leadership to revitalize and promote Ghana’s cultural heritage and tourism industry.
