Majid Michel and Nadia Buari at the premiere of 'Agony of the Christ' which came off last Friday at the National Theatre. The two play major roles in the movie, the latest from the staple of Abdul Salam Mumuni's Venus Films Productions.

'Agony of the Christ' is an “epic” that showcases the art and beauty of African culture. The story is set in the village of Ejukrom where human beings are sacrificed by the goddess of the land to appease the gods.

In the film, whose antecedent may be found in Mel Gibson's Passion of the Christ, a young man who was once banished from the village returns to preach Christianity to the people and tries to liberate his people from the gods.
