Ghanaian rapper Amerado has urged Ghanaians to stop making comparisons between the country's creative arts industry and others, such as Nigeria, emphasizing the importance of celebrating local talents who are elevating Ghana's global image.
Speaking in an interview with the media at the 2024 Rapperholic concert last night at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC), Amerado highlighted the detrimental effects of constant comparisons of musicians.
"Comparisons kill the game. It's about time that we stop acknowledging our artistes who are raising the map of Ghana. Because Kidi, Black, Sarkodie, Kweku Smoke, and the rest held their shows, and they sold out, so why the comparisons?" he remarked.
Amerado warned that losing focus on local talent could harm the growth of the industry.
"If we don't focus on our own and focus on different things at the same time, we end up losing everything. Let's stop comparing Nigeria and Ghana and maintain our own, and we won't lose anything," he advised.
He also encouraged fans to support Ghanaian music and pray for the emergence of new talents to sustain the industry for future generations.
Looking ahead to 2025, Amerado expressed optimism, saying, "I am just hopeful that 2025 is going to be great for me and not just anybody but anybody and anybody who will enter 2025, so I wish you well, and I pray you wish me well too."
The 2024 Rapperholic concert featured performances from top Ghanaian acts, including King Promise, King Paluta, Pappy Kojo, Efya Noktunal, as well as international stars like Nigeria’s Ruger and Patoranking.
