Ghanaian veteran musician, Dorcas Opoku Dakwa, professionally known as Abrewa Nana, is advocating for a paradigm shift in the Ghanaian entertainment industry, urging a focus on promoting 80% local music and 20% mixed songs.
The veteran musician emphasizes in a video that promoting the lion's share of Ghanaian music is pivotal for the industry's growth.
She asserts that giving more prominence to local music over international tracks is the key to projecting the rich musical talent in Ghana.
Abrewa Nana highlights the challenges faced by Ghanaian musicians in promoting their music within the country.
She notes that despite playing popular international songs, the industry makes it challenging for local artists like her to gain recognition for their releases.
Expressing frustration, she questions the need to travel to various cities like Kumasi, Takoradi, Sunyani, and Tamale for promotion, making the process more cumbersome.
