Afrobeat artiste and songwriter, Kuami Eugene, has said based on his song writing skills he deserves to be crowned Songwriter of the Year in the next Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA).
Kuami Eugene has been credited with several songs he wrote for his colleagues, including Adina, Joyce Blessing, and Keche among others.
Though he has not been adjudged songwriter of the year at any of the music award shows in Ghana, he feels that he deserves the award since he has made a significant contribution to the growth of the music industry.
According to him, he believes the algorithm for choosing a songwriter of the year does not favour him because it expects the songwriter to say a lot when he is just a hitmaker.
Many of the industry stakeholders and his fans believe he stands a good chance of winning the songwriter of the year award next year.
Kuami Eugene is good at what he does, according to some of the stakeholders, and they would be thrilled if he wins the songwriter of the year award next year.
Signed to Lynx Entertainment and Empire Distribution,Kuami Eugene is known for several hit songs, including 'Angela', 'Wish Me Well', 'Ohemaa' and many others.
He won the New Artiste of the Year award in 2018 at the Ghana Music Awards and the Ghana Music Awards UK.
He also received the 'Most Promising Artiste in Africa' award from AFRIMA.
In 2019, Kwame Eugene received seven nominations at the Ghana Music Awards and went on to win the awards for Album of the Year, Producer of the Year, and Highlife Artiste of the Year.
He was crowned Artiste of the Year and Highlife Artiste of the Year at the 2020 Ghana Music Awards.
