In a span of five years, Nigerian singer Ahmed Oloade, known by his stage name Asake, has ascended the ladder of the music industry at an unprecedented pace.

He has broken records, set new standards, and dominated charts. Most notably, on the night of August 20, 2023, Asake became the first Nigerian newbie to sell out the 20,000-capacity O2 Arena in London.

The spectacle was made all the more memorable by Asake's arrival on stage in a helicopter, greeted by the deafening cheers of his fans.

Humble Beginnings:
Asake started his musical journey in 2018, and by 2020, his single 'Mr. Money' had catapulted him into the limelight.

His unique blend of Afrobeats resonated with listeners, catching the attention of Nigerian artist Olamide, who signed Asake to his YBNL Records imprint in February 2022

His debut EP, 'Ololade,' featuring his breakthrough song 'Omo Ope' and the single 'Sungba,' reflected his potential.

A Breakout Year:
2022 was a year of monumental achievement for Asake as his debut album 'Mr. Money with the Vibe' was hailed as one of the best Afrobeats debut albums and debuted at #66 on the Billboard Top 200.

This feat earned it the record of the first debut album by a Nigerian artist to achieve this.

The album's success led to Asake's crowning as the "artiste of the year" by Audiomack, after amassing over 330 million streams.

Facing a traumatic incident during his tour, Asake showed resilience. Tragedy struck at the O2 Academy Brixton in London, where a crowd crush led to the critical injury and subsequent death of two people.

Asake, however, pressed on, using the incident as a reminder of the weight of his newfound fame.

Conquering the musical World:
The singer’s album, 'Work of Art,' released in June 2023, was another milestone, becoming the most streamed album of the year with 24.4 million streams across all DSPs, and earning Asake eight nominations at the Headies Awards.

The album's lead single, 'Lonely at the Top,' spent eight weeks as the number one song in the country.

His appetite for innovation saw him venture into sega music with the single 'Yoga.' The subsequent release of '2:30' and 'Amapiano,' featuring Olamide, proved his versatility and bolstered his popularity.

The O2 Arena: A Testament to Talent:
The culmination of Asake's meteoric rise was his sold-out concert at the O2 Arena. His grand entrance in a helicopter was a testament to his newfound status as a global star.

Asake performed a medley from his two albums, thrilling the crowd and further solidifying his imprint on the global music scene.

The Future is Bright:
Asake's journey from a budding artist in Nigeria to a globally recognized star is nothing short of inspiring. It has been a combination of his talent, hard work, and the power of music to transcend borders.

With his innovative musical style and unwavering determination, Asake's future in the music industry is looking incredibly bright.

As he continues to break barriers and set records, the world waits eagerly for his next move, most especially after his recent feat.

In just five years, Asake has proven that with talent and determination, the sky is truly the limit.
